Dear GTC Boys Team Families:
Congratulations to all the level 5 and 6 boys and to our coach,
Vladimir!!!
The boys competed at the state championships at West Point, yesterday.
In the level 5 (7-9 age group) the new State Champion in the all
around is Michael Bailey, with Zachary close behind in 9th place.
Baptiste is 8th in the state in vault!
Baptiste, Zachary and Michael qualified for the Region 7 Championship
which will be held at the end of April at Temple Univ, in
Philadelphia. The boys came in 3rd place as a team (with only 3
scores!!!)
Sam Randall (in the 10-11 yr old grp) placed 6th in the state all
around and 2nd in the state on high bar. Sam also qualified for
regionals.
The level 6 boys also did great! Christopher is 3rd in the all around
for the state and the state pommel horse champ for the 2nd year in a
row!
Galen is 4th in the state for all around and 3rd in the state for p-
bars. Edwin (competing as a level 6 for the first year) came in 23rd
in the state and 5th in the state on floor. Edwin, Galen and Chris
are also going to Regionals.
The 6s also placed 3rd in the state as a team in this age group with
only 3 scores.
They also placed 4th as a team in the level 6 all combined age group
competition!!! This is significant because we only have one age group
compared with a gym like Stumpfs or RGA who have 3 age groups.
Well done to everyone! See you in Philly!

The Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester is pleased to announce the addition of Cristian Duma as Head Girls Team Coach to it's already prestigious international staff.
Cristian was a Romanian international gymnast and his credits
include: Master of Sport, Bucharest Training Center, Coach at Bucharest
Training Center,

Dear Parents,
I want to thank all of you for your kindness and loyalty
through our transitioning. As promised I have been striving to be the best.
Many of you who know me know that my type A personality will never settle for
anything but the best for you and your children.
This has not been an easy task but neither is anything that is difficult to
achieve. Similar to your children's desire to succeed in the sport of
gymnastics we have all
learned perseverance is the best way to achieve our goals and NEVER give up on
a dream that you are dedicated to. I believe your children are the best kids
and deserve the
best gym. We know that we have always had the most beautiful training facility
that money can buy however our "permanent staff" has been questionable.
As promised we found the best for your children. Starting the first week of
September
team coaching staff will be as follows. Boys team, Vladimir Simakov.
When needed Dale Pollack assistant coach. Girls team staff, Catherine Haines
aka Katy,
David Smith, Addie Jackson and Sarah Jane Clifford. Substitute staff Shania
Dzielak and Stacy Smith. First let me tell you about David Smith. He was born
in Corning NY He is
over 40 years old. He and his wife Stacy have owned a gym in Arkansas for the
past ten years. His father also was a gymnast. That is how he got
started in our sport . David
grew too large to be a successful gymnast himself however still had a passion
for the sport so he took up coaching {lucky for us} Many of you had the
opportunity to meet David
Thursday through Saturday last week. He did a marvelous job working with our
girls. He has a soft kind demeanor with a hands on approach to teaching. He
is all about body
shaping which our girls so desperately need. He say, "Give me a month and you
will see the difference" He also asked me to ask for your forgiveness for his
disheveled appearances
we talked on Tuesday night and he was on the plane Wednesday to be here for
Thursdays practice and did not have time for a haircut. Also because he
carried his luggage on the
plane he could not bring his shaving cream his own shampoo or cologne. He
felt embarrassed by this. I said no one noticed. Stacy and David have 5 girls
10,12,12,13,and
16 years old. They are looking for a 4 bedroom fixer up home with land around
$150k. Any help is appreciated!!!!
Stacy too was a gymnast and will be helping out when Katy needs. Next is
Addie Jackson. She moved here from Moore's Gymnastics in Lakeland Florida
where she competed as a Level 10 National Champion. She worked with all
levels of gymnasts there from beginners developmental levels through
optional teams. She will mainly be teaching developmental and Level 5 however
she may be teaching all Levels. This is the best coaching staff GTC has ever
had. I hope you will
all come see. Thank you again for your support. It has been a wonder full
summer. Monicas conditioning certainly gave them a lot of strength.
Vladimir's morning addition was exceptional
coaching for all of you who came to camp and got to know the true Vlad and as
always thanks to Katy for being the wonderful coach that she has been.
Looking forward to a great year of success.
Sarah Jane Clifford

She repeated as champion in each event, and the
Penfield/Eastridge team finished second overall, .65 second behind Hilton.
Green has won the floor exercise and parallel
bars two straight years, the vault three straight years and the balance beam
four straight years.
"I was really happy with my floor and beam
performance," Green said. "The beam is my favorite event; I focus on
the beam all the time and it is my main event. A lot of people struggle (on
beam) and I really challenge myself."
Green's biggest competition comes from teammate
and fellow Penfield junior Lydia Barrett. The girls have been training
together at The Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester since they were 7.
Barrett had her highest all-around score of the year Saturday.
"She definitely pushes me to do
better," said Green of Barrett. "After bars and vault, we were
neck-in-neck. I really pushed myself to do well."
"I feel lucky to have them both on my
team," Penfield/Eastridge coach Mike Herrman said. "They both have
different strengths. They bring a lot to the team as far as leadership and
ability."
Green will try to repeat as Section V champion
on Nov. 8 and as state champ next March.
"You cannot expect to do the same thing
over again and I will just try to complete well," said Green. "And
if I don't win, I will still be happy because I know I competed well."
Hilton senior Diana Bermudez placed sixth in
the all-around as the Cadets took their first title in school history. It was
also the first time the Cadets, defending sectional champs, went undefeated.
"We won it on balance beam," Hilton
coach John Feeney said. "Anyone that stays on the beam gives their team a
good chance of winning."

day she would build the best gymnastics program in the area.
She also realized she was a “people” person and wanted to use her

Ithaca College. She has been able
to realize both dreams through the development of her gymnastics program at
the facility that she built-The Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester, Inc.

and Botsford School of Dance programs through out the year.
For the last 13 years Sarah Jane and her staff have trained athletes of

Others are Special Olympians and athletes with epilepsy, cancer,
multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, blindness, deafness, and heart conditions.

disabilities. Her goal is to touch
more and more kids in the Rochester area and offer sport to any kid who wants
to participate. She believes that
each student should learn at his or her own pace and strive for “personal
best”, not only in the gymnastics arena, but also in all that life has to
offer.
She continues to be an outstanding role model to fellow small business owners through her willingness to consult potential entrepreneurs. In addition, she remains active through her participation as past president for the Penfield Business Association, where she has served on the board since its inception.
